Happy Training Days

Happy is being 'obedient' trained / he is attending training every Sunday. Since going to 'school', he has improved and isnt barking so much at other dogs. He is still easily 'excited' when he sights / scents the presence of other dogs.

Perhaps he wasnt given the chance to interact so often / much with other dogs in the past.

Happy, quite calm with other dogs who are in his class.

Happy enjoying himself with his agility training / ooo, its so nice to see him so happy playing!

Happily, crossing the bars during his training!

The IRRESPONSIBLE OWNERS

Yesterday, I took Happy to Bishan Park in the evening. All dogs were playing and running around until ONE TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE couple walked in with their dog pictured here. The moment their dog entered the 2nd gate, it bared its teeth to all the dogs who were around him.
The most unbelievable REACTION was that the couple DID NOTHING to remove their dog. They stood like 2 stone statues looking at their dog baring its teeth, ready to snap at any nearby dog.
Immediately I held onto Happy's collar, who was near the aggressive dog and I quickly and lightly tapped the aggressive dog at its neck to snap him out of its aggression, else the other 3 or 4 small nearby dogs may have been attacked.
Whats more shocking was that I was reprimanded for 'having touched' their dog, instead of mine who was an innocent bystander??? This statement in itself, reflected the extreme stupidity of the irresponsible dog owners whose dog would have attacked any nearby innocent dogs that were within its reach.

Instead of being responsible enough to stop a potential dog fight, the couple went on to accuse Happy of 'touching'(provoking) their dog, something that Happy NEVER did. I completely ignored their accusations / and all the shit that they spouted from their mouths as they headed out of the park with their dog.

Minutes later, the totally DISSATISFIED IRRESPONSIBLE couple, made their way back to the park, but this time, stood outside the fence with their dog, announcing to everyone LOUDLY / to those who bothered to listen to her, that I had no reason whatsoever to touch their dog etc. I just turned a deaf ear to illiterate dog owners!!!!!!!!!

It wasnt the dog's fault at all. They may love their dog / even accept its aggresssive behaviour but there were other dog owners present with their dogs whom they love just as much and their dogs' lives are at risk when such irresponsible dog owners take such dogs into the park UNSUPERVISED.

Some years back, dogs could only be admitted into this park, after undergoing a temperament test. It was a much safer place then for all the dogs, unlike now.

If the couple has any BRAINS / GOOD COMMON SENSE, they would realise that in any fights, be it between dogs / humans, the 1st thing to do is to ward off / block off the attacker from its intended victim.

Doggies Love

We feel a tremendous love for our dogs and our dogs sure seem yo love us. But is a dog really capable of emotions? Or are we just projecting our feelings onto our dog?

Scientists avoid the subject because part of what sets humans apart from the animals is our ability to experience feeling. To say that animals actually have feelings, in the same way we do, would change everything-perhaps disrupt our entire position and standing in the animal kingdom.

However, any dog owner knows that dogs love completely and have a greater capacity for love than most people. If one were to describe the main characteristics of a dog, they would be have to be:
1) Strong affection
2) warm attachment
3) unselfish loyalty and benevolent concern for others.

Probably why the author of "Dogs never lie about love", Jeffrey Moussaieff masson writes, 'Dogs are Love". So there isnt a question of whether dogs love, they mystery is how they have such an enormous capapcity for it. Dogs who are neglected or abused still show love for their humans and wag their tails in hope of a little affection.

Dogs taken from abusive situations hold no grudges towards the human race. A half an ounce of kindness from a new person results in an abundance of affection from the formerly mistreated dog. Humans rarely have the capacity to so completely forgive and love under those circumstances.

Probabaly the biggest reason the dog has become man's best friend is because we know that when it comes to love, a dog can always outdo us. The highest form of love, AGAPE LOVE, which is completely UNCONDITIONAL, is something people ofthe have to work at or grow into. To love someone regardless of what wrongs they hae done you is very difficult for humans.

A dog, however, is born with an endless capacity for AGAPE LOVE, and doesnt even have to work at it. You can be a complete grouch, ignore your dog and refuse him your love. When U decide u are ready to be sociable again, your dog doesnt pay U back by ignoring U too. He's just happy your are there. More amazing still is that the love that dogs and owners feel for each other lasts a lifetime. This is the ideal love humans strive for but often fail at.

Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson so beautifully writes in "Dogs Never Lie about Love" Learning to know somebody is often the beginnings of dislikes, sometimes even of contempt. Among humans, love often does not survive a growing aquaintance, but in a dog, love seems to grow with aquaintance, to get stronger, deeper. Even fully aquainted with all our weaknesses, our treachery, our un-kindness, the dog seems to love strongly and this love is returned by most dog-loving humans. We, too seem to love our dogs more the more we get to know them. the bond grows between us and our dogs.

This is why we need dogs, they do something for us that rarely a human companion can do. No matter how much U mess up your life, or how much wrong U do, no matter how many mistakes U make or how often u make them, regardless of yoru looks, income or social standing, YOUR DOG NEVER JUDGES U. He always thinks U ARE WONDERUFL AND LOVES U WITH ALL HIS HEART!

Happy Boy

This is how Happy Boy (formerly known as Pepper boy) looked like when he 1st arrived at Fi's Godma M's home late last year.
Hes so FULL OF HAIR.

This is current CLEAN CUT Happy Boy, all hair trimmed! I like him this way! Nope, it wasnt my idea to have him so neat... he had some rashes / spots on his body and GodMa M shaved him clean so that he can be treated.

O, hes so spoilt by his Mum / me!

Happy is undergoing obedience training every Sun evening. Other than his barking at other dogs, hes pretty well behaved, non destructive, non aggressive, non demanding and very mild mannered.

Hes pretty much a Happy boy! And I hope hes happy to find his forever home!
